How long do you have to file probate after death?

Unfortunately, this is a common mistake. You have two years from date of death to file an informal probate. See A.R.S. § 14-3108. After that, you are stuck filing a more costly and time consuming formal probate. With a formal probate, you will most likely need to hire an attorney and appear before a judge.
